* CARD EVENINGS The Papanui Horticultural Society held its weekly card evening in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday. There was a good attendance and the results were: Mr J. E. Yates, 25 points, 1; Mrs G. Owen. 24 points, 2; Mrs J. H. Reynolds and Mr Good tied for third place with 22 points each. There was a large attendance at the weekly card evening of the Advance Northcote Association on Tuesday. The winners were: Mrs Munro 1, Mrs Harding 2, Mr Hedges 1, Mr Pope 2. Belvue Avenue The residents of Belvue avenue are petitioning the City Council to tar-seal the street. Since the erection of the Plunket Rooms near the railway the street has carried a very heavy motor traffic. Tennis A. Fraser beat K. Andrews for third place on the Waimairi Tennis Club's ladder this week. Personal At the conclusion of the choir practice at the Methodist Church on Wednesday evening, the choir took the opportunity of saying good-bye to Mr lan Hopper and Mr Peter Johansen, who are returning to Auckland to complete their studies for the ministry. The speakers were Messrs H. Queree, W. Salkeld, and L. Thwaites, who wished the guests every success.
