Williams, secretary of the Toe H. group, is on the sick list, and is expecied to go into hospital to undergo an operation early next week. Address hy Colonel Walton Colonel Granville Walton, 0.8. E., staff officer to the Chief Scout has been invited to give an address to all scouters and rovers in the Canterbury Metropolitan District. The address, which promises to be most interesting, will take place in the Young Mens Christian Association hall, Hereford street, on Friday, March 8, at 7.30 P The Chief Scout (Lord BadenPowell) may also be present, and it is hoped that there will be a record attendance. Scouts' Guard of Honour The following appreciative letter, has been received by the acting Metropolitan Commissioner, Major J. w. Crampton:— . T . , , "Mv dear Commissioner,—l wish to congratulate you very heartily on the excellent scout parade you gave me for his Excellency last night. His Excellency commented on the fine appearance of the scouts and rovers, and told me how pleased he was to have the guard of honour to say good-bye to Lady Bledisloe and himself. Kindly thank all scouters and scouts for me. I feci sure that the Christchurch district will go ahead under your able management.—Yours, very sincerely. P. Clenncll Fenwick, Dominion Chief Commissioner." . In publishing this letter Major Crampton wishes to thank all concerned for the very gratifying response to the call sent out for this parade. Appointment of Commissioners The acting Metropolitan Commissioner announces the following appointments in his district:—Mr F. Fever to be District Commissioner in the No. 4 Christchurch District. Mr J. Downes to be District Commissioner in the No. 1 Christchurch District. Mr F. Mclvor to be District Commissioner in the No. 3 Christchurch (and Lyltelton) District. Illustrated Talk on Jamboree At the Addington Rover den last Tuesday evening the rovers who went to the jamboree at Frankston, gave a talk and showed their photographs on a screen. The crew invited the troop, which made quite a large gathering. Photographs of various parts of the jamboree site and displays on the main arena were shown and explained, especially the New Zealand section. There were several international groups, including the international Gilwell reunion of which Lord BadenPowell attended as the Group Scoutmaster of Gilwell; also the Interna-
tional Club Palavar, and a reunion of previous world jamboree scouters. Photographs were also shown by "Ra" of his tour of the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves, and the Newcastle and Pennant Hills scout training camp at Sydney. Both "Phao" and *\Ra" were able to tell of interesting experiences with scouts of other lands, whom they met at the jamboree and in Sydney. Badge Examinations The following is the result of recent badge examinations held throughout the "Metropolitan District:— Basket worker: Scouts N. Elles and R. Corson: metal worker: Scout N. Elles; first all-round cord (green and yellow): Scout N. Elles. This cord, which is open to lirstclass scouts only, is awarded to the holder of six of the special proficiency badges. All of the above are members of the New Brighton troop.
