TIN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
O FINANCIAL INTEREST OF MEMBERS (Received February 27, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 27. The "News-Chronicle," in a lead ing article, says it is officially admitted that some unnamed members of the tin advisory committee are also members of the private tin pool. It seems a strange and dubious arrangement that advice or Government policy as to the size of tin quotas should be sought from a committee some of whose members, as holders of tin stocks, have a direct financial interest in production. The Government should vouchsafe much fuller information OFFICIAL EXPLANATION (Received February 28, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, February 27. Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, replying in the House of Commons to Major H. L. Nathan, said the advisers to the International Tin Control Committee had been appointed because of their interests in tin production. It was probable that they were directors or shareholders in tin companies.
