BIGGER ARMY FOR FRANCE
* MARSHAL PETAIN'3 DEMAND (Received February 28, 7.30 p.m.) PARIS, February 26. Marshal Henri Petuin, who was Commander-in-Chief of the French forces on the Western front, and a member of the Higher Council of National Defence, says that France must have a bigger army, capable of instant mobilisation. The period of conscript service, he claims, should be increased from one year to two.
