»—_ KAIAPOI society: The Kaiapsi Racing Pigeon Society conducted its first young bird race of the season from Culverdcn on Saturday. Thirty-nine birds, representing eight lofta, were liberated by the stationmaster. Fair weather enabled the birds to ar i rive home in good time, but a tricky wind caused the owners some delay in clocking in. The winnii;.' bird, the property of L. Taylor, flew the distance of 41 miles 344 yards in lhr 17min 37sec Velocities are as follows; Yards per min. Ij. Taylors Sr. .. .. .. 1002 W. Anderson's 59 .. .. 993 Morris and Revell's i • 992 Gray and Bnrnip's 87 .. ~ 933 H. Green's 61 .. .. 930 L. Taylor won the nominated bird prize.
