LIFE-SAVING.
# NORTH BEACH CLUB. A meeting of tlie Executive Committee oi tho North Beach Surf Life-Saving Club was held in the pavilion, Mr W. Smith (president) presiding over a full attendance. Correspondence was received from the Canterbury Head Centre etating that classes in life-saving for the proficiency certificate of the Royal Life-Saving Society were being formed and would be carried on at the Tepid Baths. The Canterbury Head Centre' also notified the club that the competitions for the Sir John Hall shield and the Monica Thacker' shield would be held at the Tepid Baths ou April 6th qfid April 21st respectively. It was decided not to enter a team for the Sir John Hali shield. A request vas received from the Scoutmaster of the North .Beach Boy Scout troop that the club give instruction in life-saving tc the boys of the troop. The request was agreed to and it was decided to offer to hold classes throughout ■ the winter months. A member also offered to take the boys for water work at the Tepid Baths if it could be arranged for them to attend there. It was decided that the club competitions be held on Easter Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. It was further agreed on the motion of Mr Kiordan "that with the concurrence of the donor, the competition for the D. V. Wilson cup be changed from a seven-man rescue to a handicap swim round the buoy, open to juniors (under 17 years, on October lsr. last)." '
