May: Laundresses. embroiderers, book-lovers, cobblers, and clerks. That complete arrangements lor_ilf' examinations bo made, it is required that names of candidates (in writing) be' forwarded to the Provincial Secretary l>y tho first of the month in which the examination will be held. All entrants must be second-class guides or rangers. Tho practical tests for the cook s badge (cooking out-of-doors) will be held at the Guide Training Centiv, I'Yost's road, on April 2nd and 9th. Further information concerning tbe various examinations will be published in this column. v North Canterbury District Guide anl Scout Rally. This Rally will be held in the .Kaiapoi Domain on Saturday, March lUi.li. Several guiders are visiting Kaiapoi for the event and all are assured ol an enjoyable day. A splendid sports programme t.j .start at 10.oU a.m. has been arrange !. Tho March Past will commence at y.lo, and during the afternoon tJiero will he displays by the guide.s and scouts; also farther sports. Visiting guidcr.s and guides are invited to take part in the March Piist. Miss lilac);well is organising the guide section, and the following companies and packs will participate: Belfast Guides. Kaiapoi Guides and Brownies. Wood end. Guides. Amberi>'v Guides anil Rangiora Guides. # « * A Brownie Pack is in cour.-e of lorniation at Woodcnd. Mrs Heath is Acting-Brown Owl, and Miss Actiiig-Tawny Owl. ♦ # • South-East Christchurch District Rally. The inclement weather which prevailed, on Saturday necessitated the postponement of the District Rally. Given line weather there was every prospect oi an excellent programme as over 300 guides and brownies attended, despite unfavourable eoiulition.s, and it was a disappointment to all. that the competitions and displays could not be held. However, guides and brownies "'Smile and sing when under difficulties" and this cheerfulness was particularly noticeable among.st the brownies. It is hoped that the competitions may' be arranged for at a dav in the near future.
