George Tandy, an unemployed asphalter, on a charge of murdering his wife, was found guilty, but insane, and was sentenced to be detained during his Majesty's pleasure. His daughter gave evidence that she and her brother had protected their father at tunes from their mother's drunken fury. The Judge said that the prisoner was entitled to sympathy. He had been both mother and father to the children.
