STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION.

ELECTION AT CANTERBURY COLLEGE TO-DAY. At Canterbury University College the control of students' affairs is in the hands of the Executive of the Students' Association. For some years now all undergraduates attending the College have been automatically enrolled as members of the Association, and hare paid the annual fee. From the funds thus collected the Executive makes grants to the various College clubs and societies affiliated to it, finances the teams for the Easter InterUniversity Tournament and other contests, publishes the official magazines, "Canta,'> and "The Review," and in general conducts affairs in the interests of the student body. Each year the Executive is elected by those who were members, of the Association in the previous year, "freshers' 1 not exercising" a vote, as they do not know the candidates sufficiently well after only a week or so at College. . To-day is the day of the elections for the 1932 Executive. There ar© many nominations for the various positions, and an interesting poll is anticipated. At midnight on Saturday, when nominations closed, there were, more; than the required number pf candidates for all but three positions. Those declared elected unopposed are:—President, Mr J. G. D. Ward; honorary secretary, Mr W. Ridla,nd;_ and honorary treasurer, Mr D. J. Wilson. Nominations for the ; other positions are as follows Men's vice-president, Messrs J. F. Newbold and R. A.. Young; women's vice-president. Miss Clare Camm and Miss Gwenhwyfer Wilkins; honorary assistant secretary, Messrs N. P. Alcorn, J. E. Bretherton, W. E. Parrott, K. J. Sheen and J. T. Watts; two women Executive members, Misses Jonn Bull, Sheila Tenneint, Aline Wells, Alison West-Watson, land Gwenhwyfer Wilkins; three men Exeeutive members, Messrs E. R. Askin, A. G. A. Baigent, B. A. Barrer, J. E. lirotherton, M. C. Brickell, H. D. Coates, 0. C.. Harley, C. Hilgendorf, K. J. McMenainin, I- F. G. Milher, G. H. Stripger, -D. H. Synies,. andH. 11.
