MEETING AT NEW BRIGHTON. On Saturday, despite the bad weatlicr, the Now Zealand Whippet Racing Club proceeded with its .race meeting at the New Brighton trotting ground. Tl*b rain held ofi during the racing, which throughout was keenly congested. The attendance was smaller than usual. The main event 011 tlio programme, the Hervey First-class Handicap,. was won by Mr J. It. D. Jolinsa Bluebird, while the Selwyn Open Hurdles was won by Mr E. G. Musson's Why Not. The biggest entry lvaa in ' the Peterborough Middleweight. which went to the Misses Flaherty and O Brien'a Grey Eagle.
