ENTRIES EXCEED THOSE OF LAST YEAR.

Tho twenty-sixth annual show of the Kaikoura Agricultural and Pastoral Association took place on the Show Grounds and in tlie. Drill Hall, yesterday in beautiful weather. The president (Mr K. R. Laidlaw), the secretary (Mr "W. F. Perrin), and committee are to be congratulated on tho success of the event, the arrangements being in excellent order, while the entries were actually 13 in excess of the previous year, not taking into consideration the post entries and competitions. There was a large attendance, the gate takings ainoutning to £3O 2s . 6d, as . against £39 last year, when motor-cars were charged for. Mr E. F. Healy, M.P., telegraphed regretting his inability to attend, and wishing the Association all 'success.* There was an excellent exhibition of flowers, vegetables, and root crops, while the children's classes were well represented, and created much interest. The ring competitions were of high standard, the light horse section being especially good. The cup winners were as follows: Mendip Hills Cup: Clarence Estate (33 points). S. T. Richmond Cup: F. Sharp (won outright). Fat Sheep Cup: G. D. McDonald (22 points). Mo3t points for half bred classes: Dollan Bros. (27 points). Draught horses: J. Eaton (17 points). Light horses: Mrs H. Parsons (24 points). Pony section: J. McGregor (27 points). Cattle section: J. B. Boyd (40 points). Most points in live stock: J. Boyd (40 points). Harle Bros.' Cup (produce section): Mrs M. A. Collynst (127 points). A. B. Clark Shield: Mrs M. A. Collyns (128 points). Champion Ribbon, Draught horse: Henry Mackle. Champion hack: Mrs H. Parsons. Campion harness pony: .T. McGregor. Champion saddle I pony: Miss G. Parsons.
