FIRES.
RANGIORA OUTBREAK. HOUSE TOTALLY DESTROYED. At 2.45 a.m. yesterday a two-storied house of eight rooms at Rangiora, owned and occupied by Daniel Patrick Maiioney, livery Stable proprietor, was totally destroyed by Are. The building, which was situated next to the Bangiora aaleyards in Victoria street, was' about 70 yeafs old and had been.<at one time used as dining-rooms and s boardinghouse. The fire is thought.to have started tiirough, embers falling- out of a stove* in which there had been a. fire during the day. , v The alarm was given by Mrs Williams, the housekeeper, who was.'Alone fc the house at the. time, Mr Mahoteey son being away with some horses at New Brighton. The building being of wood and very old burned very quickly and although the fire brigade .watt quickly on the sc§ne the house was practically gutted by the time the water was turned on. The house was insured'for £SOO in the Alliance office, and the furniture and, piano in the (Guardian office.
