OBITUARY.
MR W. N. POOLE. The death- occurred at Auckland, lost week of 1 Mr William N. Poole, Who was for many years stationed at the Nelsoit post Office, subsequently becoming Chief' Postmaster at Kumara, Kaiapoi, and Cambridge, where she retired About ten years ago owing to ill-health and went to live at Auckland. Throughout his life Mr Poole was keenly interested in athletics, football, and cricket, and while in Nelson he was prominently; associated with all- these, branches of sport, being extremely jjopular both as An. official and a. participant, For many seasons he was captain of the Athletic Club's senior team, and he took a leading part in the conduct of cycling and athletic gatherings when these meetings were at the height dt their popularity in Nelson. On the track he was a fine. performer over short distances and was first toreaoh the tape on many occasions. While ,111, Nelson Mr- Poole was associated with Southern Star Masonic L6dge, of-which he became Worshipful Master. Mr. ■Pole leaves a widow (a sister of Mite S. F. Bolton, of Nelson), and three daughters—Mrs Harper (Auckland), Mrs Lundon .(Cambridge), and Miss Z. Poole (Auckland).
