GERMAN WAR GRAVES.
ERECTION OF HEADSTONES. (FROil OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) LONDON, October 31. An informal conference was held recently in Brussels between representatives of Belgium, Germany, and the Imperial War Graves Commission on the marking of the German graves in British cemeteries in Belgium. The matter is one in which the German, authorities are taking an increasing interest, and it is understood that the Germans undertook to supply the headstones and that, with the an proval of the Belgian authorities would be erected in the British ceme teries. Many of these German grave* at present arc marked only by wooden crosses, and the general appearance of the cemeteries would it is thought be improved by the substitution of 'thn headstones. Among the reciprocal arrangementmade with the Belgian authorities it was agreed that the Imperial War Graves Commission should take over the maintenance of the whole of th» St. Symphorien Cemetery at Mor This cemetery was opened by the GeT m ans during the war as an Anglol German cemetery, and contains about i tin equal number of British and Ger-' man graves.
