SHIPPING NOTES. The Gala in - duo to-morow from Timaru. She will load for Picton and sails for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Kaimiro is to arrive hero to-morrow from Portland, via Wellington. The Calm is now due to-morrow from the south, and Bails in the afternoon for Wellington and Wanganui. The Wingatui is expected from Bluff, Dunedin, and Oamaru to-morrow, and will take in cargo for Wellington. The tanker Scottish Heather loaded empty oil drums at Lyttelton yesterday, and sails at 7 o'clock this morning for Balik Papan. The Kanna should arrive on Thursday from Timaru to discharge a part cargo of coal. She sails in the evening for Westport. The Parera is due to-morrow from Gisborne, and will load for East Coast ports of the North Island. The Kurow is an expected arrival at Lyttelton to-morrow from Wellington. She will discharge cargo from Adelaide and Melbourne. She sails later for Tarakohe. The Storm should arrive here on Friday from Timaru to take in cargo for Wellington and Wanganui. The Breeze is timed to load at Lyttelton on Saturday for Wellington and Wanganui. The Progress is to take in cargo at Lyttelton to-morrow for Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Waikato. * The Totara is timed to load at Lyttelton on Friday for New Plymouth, and sails for that port via Wellington. The Golden Coaßt is to sail from Lyttelt.on to-day for Timaru and Dunedin for further discharge of her Los Angeles cargo. The Opihi is due on Saturday from the south to load for Nelson and New Plymouth. The Waipiata is to sail from Lyttelton today for Dunedin and Timaru. She is due back on Saturday to load for Auckland, via Wellington. The Kalingo, with timber from Coff's Harbour, is due at Lyttelton, via X>unedin, on December 18th. She sails later for Wanganui. The Waimarino is due here on Tuesday next from Auckland and Wellington, and iB to sail the same day for Dunedin, Oamaru, and Timaru. VESSELS WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE OF N.Z. Chatham Islands—Corinthic, Northumberland. DEARTH OF SHIPPING. There are only two overseas ships in port at present, one of which will sail to-day and the other to-morrow. No further overseas vessels are expected until next Tuesday, and there will be little doing on the waterfront until then. Two of the largest shipping companies have no overseas vessels arriving during the next fortnight. PERSONAL. Captain A. Mcintosh retains command of the Karamea, which is due at Auckland on Monday from Australia. Mr D. M. Keith has rejoined the Aorangi , as chief officer after holidays, and Mr E. M. Anderson, acting-chief officer, has reverted to second officer, relieving Mr R. N. Turner for holidays. Mr D. H. Richards has rejoined the Aorangi as junior third officer, relieving Mr J. Wolting for holidays. Mr C. JI. George is joining the Kakariki as chief officer, relieving Mr J. J. Lyon for instructions.

THE AORANGI. The "Union Company has received advice that their motor-liner Aorangi, from Vancouver and Auckland, arrived at Sydney at 3 a.m. on Friday. Sho is to leave there again next Thursday for Auckland, Suva, Honolulu, and Vancouver. NARBADA LEAVES CALCUTTA. Tho TJnion Company has received advice that the Narbada beared Calcutta on Tuesday for Penang, Singapore, and fc'amarang, to complete loading" for Auckland, Wellington', Ijyttolton, Timam, Dunedin, and Bluff. She is due at Auckland about January 2nd.

REMUERA'S MOVEMENTS. To complete discharge of htfr London cargo and to commence her Homeward loading, the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Remuera arrived at Auckland on Friday morniDg. She is to leave there again on Saturday for Napier, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Wellington, to fill up. The vessel is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on January 3rd for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. MAHENO AT MELBOURNE. * The Union Company has received advice that the Maheno, from Bluff, arrived at Melbourne at 9 on Friday. She is to leave there again at 10 a.m. on Thursday for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington, and is due here on December 18th. CANADIAN STEAMERS SOLD. The freighters Canadian Voyager and Canadian Trooper have been sold by the Canadian National Steamships to G. Paul Knudsen, of Bergen, Norway, on behalf of Norwegian owners, who plan to operate the vessels in European waters. Tenders also have, been called for the sale of the Canadian Beaver, Canadian Squatter, and Canadian Ran. ger. The vessels are surplus tonnage of the Canadain National fleet, not being considered adaptable for the established routes of the company. MIDGET GOLF ON LINERS. The voguo of midget golf has prompted the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company to install a nine-hole course on its cruising steamer Atlantis. This is quite an innovation on board ship, and should prove very popular with passengers. The Royal Mail S'team Packet Company celebrated on September 26th the 91st anniversary of its incorporation, the first Royal Charter, under Queen victoria's Government, having been granted on September 26th, 1839.
