At a meeting of tho executive of the Manawatu branch of the Farmers' Union remits for submission to the provincial and Dominion conferences included one urging that during the present period of economic stress all salaries of Ministers, members of Parliament and civil servants from £301) to £SOO. bo reduced 10 per cent., and from £SOO upwards 20 per cent. CUT OF 8 PER CENT. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WANGANUI. December 8. The Waitotara County Council this afternoon decided upon a reduction of 8 per cent, in the salaries and wages of all employees as from January Ist next. Some members favoured taking no action until a lead eamo from the Counties' Association. FLAXWORKERS AND MILLERS. (press association telegram.) PALMERSTON N.. December 8. At n meeting of the executive of the Flaxworkers' Union at Shannon, on Saturday, consideration was given to the' millers' request for a reduction of the Arbitration Court Award. It was decided to hold a conference with the millers ns soon as possible.
