ITALIAN MIGRANTS.

LANDING AT SYDNEY PREVENTED. (tTUTBD PRESS. ASSOCIATION —BT ELZCTBIC TELEOSAPH —COPYRIGHT.) (Received December 3rd, 8.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 3. Sixty-six Italian migrants, who arrived by the Orient liner Orford at Sydney to-day, were not allowed to land, under the instructions of the Federal Minister for Homo Affairs (Mr A. Blakely). It is understood that 60 are booked for Brisbane, presumably en route to the cane-fields of Northern Queensland. The Acting-Prime JJiinister (Mr E. J. Fenton) declined to comment, saying it was a matter of international significance and he was anxious to avoid complications.

ITALIANS TO BE SENT BACK. (Keceived December 4th, 12.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 3. The 66 Italian migrants will be sent back to Italy and will sail on the Orama on Saturday. One hundred Italians on the incoming Otracto will also be returned. Two hundred more who are about to embark on the Italian motor-ship Romolo for Australian ports have been stopped by cablegram. The Australian Immigration authorities explain that the only Italian migrants now allowed into the Commonwealth are those desiring to join relatives here, or who have been nominated by relatives.
