TRADES COUNCIL FEDERATION.

MOVEMENT FOR REVIVAL.

[THB PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON. December 2. A movement is afoot, it is stated, to revive the Trades Council Federation, and it is probable that before very long the subject will receive consideration by the Wellington Trades and Labour Council. Several years ago the Trades Council Federation was a strong industrial body in New Zealand, having branches in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill, Timaru, Gisborne, and Wanganui. When the executive decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Alliance of Labour, the Wellington Trades Council was the only Council to affiliate, though tho Dunedin _ Council joined later. At present, neither the Auckland nor Christchurch Trades Councils are affiliated to tho Alliance of Labour. It is probable that a special meeting of the _ Wellington Trades and Labour Council will be held shortly to consider the position.
