RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. At the fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers' Association, the following members were present: Messrs G. A. Haydon, T. L. Drummond, JE. W. Smith, H. Holderness, C. H. Holmes, H. Wilkinson, C. Cliisnall, A. L. Emerson, G. W. Lloyd, the Rev. F. T. Bead, and the secretary. Owing to his absence 5n Wellington, as a member of the Unemployment Board, Mr W. E. Lcadley was granted leave of absence until the end of the financial year.

I Tho Victoria League forwarded a do- ! nation of £lO, to be utilised in providing headstones for non-war graves at I Bromley Cemetery. 1 Tho Town Clerk wrote inviting a. representative of the Association to attend a meeting of the various organisations, with a view to making an appeal for Christmas cheer. The Rev. F. T. Read was appointed to attend. Tho Lyttclton sub-branch forwarded an invitation to representatives to attend the opening of their club rooms, on December 13th. The prosident and secretary were deputed to attend. A letter was received from the lleathcoto County Council expressing appreciation of the good work done by returned soldiers during tho last eight months, on relief works. They stated that they had had between 300 and 400 different men through their hands, and with the exception of three or four, they bad been quite satisfactory. Tho secretary was instructed to rnako enquiries regarding a statement made by a member of tho Heath cote County Council relative to a relief worker obtaining rations whilst employed on relief works. The secretary stated that ho was of the opinion that the man concerned was not a returned soldier. A citizen who desired to remain anonymous forwarded a donation of £5 to the Unemployment FundIn connexion with the Disabled Sol- i V 7 Civil Re-establishment Act, i Headquarters wrote requesting the Association to nominate a representative act on the Loca.l Advisory Committ^e It was decided to nominate Mr E.
