COUNTY COUNCIL.
SELWYN. The monthly meeting of the Selwyn County Council was held in the Council Chambers, Hororata, when there were present: Cr», F. J. Andrews (chairman), Jl. W. Gilmore, G. Hall, R. J. Johnston, D. Jar man, T. E. Pearce, and W. Stone. The traffic inspector reported a ease taken against a motorist for speeding on the high* way. This had been tried at Leeston Court, when the offender was found guilty and. was convicted. The engineer reported on the various works undertaken during the month. Contract for the supply and delivery of 1064 yards of gravel, at 5s 6d per yard, to the east end of Rakaia- terrace road, bad been completed. The contract for the supply and delivery of 2700 yards of gravel to Boundary road had been commenced. The Glentuunel bridge was nearing completion, and, weather permitting, would be open to the travelling public some time in February. It was resolved that the 10 per cent, penalty will be added to all rates outstanding after December 30th, 1930. The health inspector reported a case of scarlatina. . It was decided that the Zig-zag road should receive attention. The next meeting of the Council win be held in February.
