"THE SONG OF THE FLAME." "The Song of the Flame," First National and Vitaphone's brilliant dramatic romanc®, to bo presented at the Crystal Palace on Monday, will be enjoyed by lovers of good music as well aB those who aro looking for dramatio screen entertainment. It was directed by Alan Crosland, with many Russians appearing in the mob sequences which add substantially to the realism of the spectacular scenes. Tho Petrograd of an earlier day, when it still betokened the wealth and luxury of the Russian aristocracy, is revived in the colourful backgrounds constructed for this picture. Four players in the large cast deserve particular mention because of their fine characterisations and substantial contributions to tho vocal sequences in the picture. They are Bernice Claire, tho prima donna; Alexander Gray, who plays opposite her; Noah Beery, and Alice Gentlo, a foremost operatic star. Considered as a spectacle, as a drama, or as a stirring romance, "Song of the Flame" stands out as a notable achievement. The box plans are at The Bristol Piano Company.
