Dr. Meval, a noted physician and traveller, died at the village of Lainotte after sixty days' voluntary starvation, despite the entreaties of fellowphysicians, friends, and a devoted old servant, who cooked, the most tempting dishes, but all in vain. There is no clue to his motive.
