JAN MAYEN ISLAND.
NORWEGIAN SOVEREIGNTY RECOGNISED. (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, November 25. Notes have been exchanged between the British Legation in Oslo and the Norwegian Government with reference to the latter's claim for sovereignty over Jan Mayen Island, 300 miles north-east of Iceland. The British Note, announcing formal recognition of Norwegian sovereignty, adds: "Such recognition is accorded' independently of, and with all due reserves with regard to the actual grounds of the claim." The Norwegian Government, expresses its gratitude, at the friendly attitude of the British Government.
