SUPREME COURT.
BLENHEIM SESSIONS. (ra*ss association TiiLicmui.) BLENHEIM, November 25. In the Supreme Court Boy Gladstone EwaTt was charged that on or about September 27th, at. Blenheim, he did with intent to defraud attempt to obtain from the Phoenix Assurance Company the sum of &600 by falsely representing that the value of the stock ill his shop in Market street at the time of the fire which damaged the premises on September 26th, was £9OO, whereas in fact it was of the value of £.91 3s lid. He was further charged that on the same dato he allegedly made a false declaration of fire loss before : J. Bary, J.P. Tho jury returned a verdict of not guilty. Ewart was also charged on three counts that in March, April, and July last he received sums of £5 10s, £2 2s, and £3 3s on terms requiring liim to account for them to Nathan Toyman, furrier, of Christchurch, and allegedly failed to do so, thereby committing t.hef. Ewart was agent in Blenheim for Tossman. The case was unfinished when the Court adjourned till to-morrow.
