PIGEON FLYING.
CANTERBURY CLUB. The Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew off a race from Feilding last Saturday, 110 birds, divided amongst nineteen owners, competing. The lofts were divided into tw-J sections, east and'.west. The birds were liberated by Mr Malcolmson at 7.30 a.m. in dull weather and a northerly wind, which changed to a-strong'-.nor'-wester as the birds reached the South Island, which enable them to put up last times. The highest) velocity was put up by G. Anderson s bird No. 392, which flew tho distance of ' J/o miles 774 yards air-line in ,shr. OOmin Ssec. On Saturday last the Christciiurch Premier Pigeon Club held races from Kaitoke and Invercargill. Good times were recorded in the race from Kaitoke. The winning bird, owned by S. Mallard, flew the 223 miles'•47o yards air-line in 6hrs 9min 39sec. The birds racing from Invercargill were favoured with a moderate sou'-weßter, and very fast times were recorded.
