Mr A. L. Mulr conimented that this subject had be4n debated far back as 95 yo&rs ago. To his mind a great deal of nonsense had been talked ftbout the damage caused by the name, and he believed that • * was decidedly more of aji advertisement thnn anything else. In any event it would be a great trouble to find nnv other suitable name. They should alfeo be loth to part with a name which hqd such historical associations, for there was ffir too little of history in New Zealand. Another speaker commented that the name of "Endeavour Bay" had been suggested many years ago. The subject was dropped without any definite resolution being piisscd.
