Shots wore fired outside tho house of Professor Hayes, Speaker of the Dail Eireann, The guard, who returned the lire, was wounded, and was taken to s hospital. There was afterwards much police activity in Dublin, including the holding up of tram-cars and motor-cars. Many rumours were floating about the city, one being that the Speaker himself was attacked aad wounded.
