At the Magistrate's Court this morning, Arthur Victor Jones, a labourer, appeared to answer two charges of theft, and threo charges of breaking and entering, and theft, at Dannevirke and Palmerßton North. The theft charges were that on November 15th at Dannevirke, he stole u pair of field glasses and case of a value of £4, the property of a person unknown, and that on tho same dato he stole a motor coat, and other sundry articles'valued at £.2 10s, the property of a person unknown. Accused elected to be dealt with summarily,' and pleaded guilty. He . waa sentenced to a month's imprisonment on euch charge, tho sentences to bo concurrent. He was then further charged that on November 16th at Palmerstpn North, lie did break, and .enter .the shop of 11. P. G. Mortensen, a jc-veller, and etealwatches, riuga, and .other jewellery, of a total value of £ ICS 14s; that on the same date,..he did break and enter the' counting bouse of the Palace Theatro, Palmcrstou North, and steal six torches, an attache case, and a book, of a total valuo of £2 17s 6d; and that on - the same date -at Dannevirke, .he did-break and enter-the Gaa office of the Borough Council, to steal money and tstampa valued at £l. Following the hearing of the evidence, accused pleaded guilty to ail three charges, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington, for sentence.
