SCHOOL CONCERT
WEST CHRISTCHURCH D.H.S. The annual concert of the West Christchurch District High School was held at the Radiant Hall last evening. The programme was widely varied in its interest, and the audience, which filled the hall, was kept amused and interested throughout the evening. The main interest centred about Clemence Dane's one-act play for boys, "Shivering Shocks," which was quite well presented. Outstanding among the other numbers wero the girls' ballet, .©specially the "Penguin," which was decidedly original, a violin solo by Neil Smart, and a dumbbell item. In a brief speech the headmaster, Mr L. F. de Berry, thanked those present for tho supi port given, and for the interest taken in the I school.
The programme included a piano solo by Ethel Cooper; solo- dances, Bessie Kearney and Dorothy Dickey; Highland dance, Mar* .iorie Fraser; recitations, Marjorie Snow, Nancy Lewis. Jack Callaway, and Wootton; dumbbells, M. and J. Buchanan and B Savage; French songs, by a boys' chorus; song and chorus, "My Guitar and You," Winnie Parkes and chorus; violin duo, Neil Smart and Gordon Stokes; and a song by Wyatt Warren; girls' ballet, B. and M. Kearney, G, Mullins, D. Dickey, U. Cox, K. Stout, and H. Stephenson. The parts in the play were taken by T. Noble, A. Kinnimonth, W. •Hulnie, 3j. Arnold, L. Shaw, N. Smart, P. Carroll, and G. Stock
