TWO PLAYS

ST. MARGARET'S OLD GIRLS. DRAMA CIRCLE'S PRODUCTIONS. SCecn interest in the legitimate stugo, iron the amateur point of viov.-, is taken by members of the St. Margaret's Old Girls' Association, who have formed a Drama Circle. Last year they presented tho Dutch play "Prunella" with outstanding success. This year they have been more venturesome, ofForing to the public two plays, "Ticklers Time," by Snsan Glaspell, and "Tho Knav* of Hearts'" by Louise Saunders. The programme, presented to a large audience in Jeilicoo Hall last night, opened with i* pianofort* solo of brilliance by Miss Betty Tipping, who pla-yed Mendelssohn* a "Rondo Capriccio&o." Mies Edna Gill danced fho "Dance of the Hour*'' (Delibes) and Mis* Margaret Ortnerod sang "The Sweetest Flov.cr that Blows," in a good contralto. "Tickles* Time" was s comedy revolving round a sundial, and introducing the vain attempts of a young idea-list's wife to keep pace with his fantastic ideas. The couple decided to live by the sundial, forsaking standardised time. Naturally there were complications, which were presented admirably by tho cast. The players v.ere Misses Clare Woods, Ifcoso Reynolds, Doris Crespin, Tui Pannell, Ainu* Chamberla-in, and Mrs George 'Rich. Miss Edna Gill danced a "Dryad Dance."

Miss Margaret Ormerod sang "Passing By, and MiSs Edna Firth played "Ausschwung and Grillen" (Schumann), and each received appreciative applause. "The Knave of Hearts" was, with the exception of the manager, acted by marionettes. It demonstrated exactly why the knave stole the tarts, and the costumes were identical with tho court cards. The players were Mrs George Rich, Misses Alma Chamberlain, Rona Woodward, Rose Reynolds, Marjorie Best, Irene Home, Aldwyth Jones, Molly Hutherley, Madge Mathews, J. Kddy, and Elsie Rutter. This playetta was another very well acted number, and produced some excellent character sketches. The whole programme wai a distinct credit to the Association.
