EMPIRE GAMES.
VIEWS OP THE TOUR. The filna oi tho recent tour ot the New Zealand athletic teams to the Empire Games in Canada attracted a large number to the Canterbury Rowiug Club's social room last even ing for the first public screening in Christcfturch. The film was taken by Mr W. H. Frost, of Auckland, a member of the New Zealand bowling team, and it covered &uch a variety of subjects and incidents of tho tour that it comprised a remarkably interesting collection. The projection of the pictures was carried out by Messrs J. Gilby and Er'c Beaven, while the former, who waa a member oi' the New Zealand rowing eight a-t the Gaines, explained views and incidents shown in the screening. There was a section dealing with tho exercises of the teams on the boat on the way to the Games, and their amusements. Then there was a special division which was devoted entirely to Mr Frost's own trip to Alaska*, and this was very interesting and instructive. The film also phowed views taken during the train journey across the prairies, -of Hamilton, tho city at which the Games were held, of the oponing of the Games and their running, viewc of the great exhibition held at Toronto during the teams' visit, and of the return journey through the Rockies. Altogether it was a very comprehensive film—it was about 3000 feet in length—a-nd at the conclusion of the programme a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded both to tho lender of the films, and to those who had carried out the screening. It was announced that some films had been taken of the rowing team in training "and racing, and those were now in Wanganui. It was hoped that at an date they might be available for screening in Christchurch.
