The Chicago Police Commissioner, Mr Russell, and the Chief Detective, Mr Stege, resigned to-day after public indignation had been aroused by the murder of Albert Lengle, the reporter of the "Chicago Tribune," who was shot dead at a railway station on June 9th. A Chicago message states that the "Secret Six," the business men's committee which is investigating gang activities—announced that it would enlarge the scope of its work, increasing its membership to 16.
