FRUIT BARROWS.

"WILL DETRACT FROM CITY'S BEAUTY."

At yesterday's meeting of the Christchurch Beautifying Association the following resolution was carried : "That this Association, protests against tho proposal of the City Council to license barrows for fruit hawkers, as the same will create an obstruction and detract from the City's beauty. This objection also applies to the icecream cart at present standing in Cathedral square, by the Bank of New Zealand corner."

Another resolution passed was as follows: "That the Highways Bpard be empowered to undertake. the suitable planting of trees along the highways under their control." It was decided to refer jt to the Board and the Canterbury Automobile Association.
