The British Army will have taller gunners in future. The War Office stated that until further orders the minimum height for all recruits for the Koyal Artillery will be sft Tin. The minimum formerly was sft Sin. The two extra inches have been added to smarten up the gunners, and because shorter men are better fitted for the Tank Corps and other mechanised branches of the Army, where small stature is essential.
