FLORAL FETE.
JL flora! fete in aid of tbe school picnic fund was held at the Waimairi school on Saturday afternoon. The weather was ideal, and there was" a large attendance of parents and children. Mr R. G. Morrison, chairman of the committee, apologised for the absence 'of Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., who was lo have opened the fete. He outlined the purpose of the fete, and said it would require at least £SO to give the children their picnic this year to Leeston. He hoped that the result of the fete would show that that amount, had been obtained. During the afternoon the proceedings were enlivened by selections from the Fapanui Band. _ . The stalls and stall-holders were:—Cake stall, Mesdames Moor and Badford; variety stall, Mesdames Morrison, Henry, and Kue, ice-cream and soft drinks, Mrs E. Tullett; sweets stall, Mrs W. Tullett; produce stall, Sir Greenslade; side-shows, Messrs &. iuilett W. Tullett, Bennie, and Fullwood; afternoon tea, Mesdames Greenslade and iullwood; competitions, Misses Beid and Minifie, and Mr Badford.
