ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
A TIMELY RESCUE. (PRESS ASSOCUTIOa, MLIGSAH.) AUCKLAND November 20. A man of about 62 years of age, Frederick Sibbe, attempted to commit suicide by trying to throw himself off Grafton Bridge at about half past one. Two men who were crossing the bridge saw Sibbe climbing up on to the parapet. They ran to him and dragged him back and held on to him until some other pedestrians came to their assistance. Sibbe haß only recently come to Auckland from Wellington, and had been drinking. He pleaded guilty at the Police Court to a charge of attempting to commit suicide. Senior-Sergeant McCarthy, in asking for a remand until Monday, said the accused had been drinking heavily and he had been having difficulty in finding- employment. A remand was granted.
