LYTTELTON NEWS.

* Ladies' Swimming Club. The Lyttelton Ladies' Swimming Club will open the season at Corsair Bay this afternoon. The Mayor (Mr F. E. Sutton) will declare the season open, races jwill be held, and visitors will be entertained at afternoon Methodist Church. Services in celebration of the 74th anniversary of the opening of the Lyttelton Mothodist Church will be held to-morrow. The Rev. H. L. Blamires will preach in the morning, and the Rev. B. Dudley in the evening, and there will be special music by the choir. At 8.15 to-morrow' evening the sacred cantata, "King David," will be given by the choir. On Tuesday evening a concert will be given in the schoolroom. Hose Show. The Presbyterian Church's annual rose show concluded last evening, the financial results being very satisfactory. The remaining sections were judged in the afternoon, and prizes awarded as follows: Baby show, boy under six months: Mrs Goodmanson's twins v 1 and special. Under twelve months: Mrs Lee 1. Girl under six months: Mrs Tilling 1. Girl under 12 months: Mrs Anderson 1. The following are the results of the children's soction—Drawing under 12 years (crayon), any flower: Eric Minty 1, Phyliss Morris 2. Woodwork: J. Childs 1, Stanley Gunn 2, Fred Priddy 3. Plasticine, model of Lyttelton harbour: Sydney Dromgoole 1, Peter Richardson 2. Fancy work, primary children only: Joan Skipage and Zoe Lane (equal) 1, Jean Mills and Ngaire Watkins (equal) 2. Under 12 years: Jessie Pascoe 1, Zoe Bowling 2. Yacht Club. The Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club will hold sailing races at Lyttelton this afternoon for open class, Takapunas and sailing dinghys.
