BIG POWER BOARD.

CONFERENCE TO-MORROW. The conference of representatives of Power Boards, convened by the Public Works Department to discuss the formation of one big Power Board for the districts between the Waimakariri and the Rakaia, is to be held to-morrow in the Ministerial room in the Government Departmental Buildings at 2.30 p.m. The proposal has aroused a considerable amount of interest, especially as the Department has indicated its willingness to hand over to such a Board, if established, the large consumers who, at present, obtain their power direct from the Department, with the proviso that the Board shall not charge them higher rates than those charged by the Department. The City Council will be represented at the conference by the chairman of the Electricity Committee, Cr. P. W. Sharpe, and Mr E. Hitchcock, general manager of the Municipal Electricity Department.
