| Admiral Jones Retiree. Washington, November 13. —Admiral Hilary Jones, Senior Flag Officer, and American Naval expert at the Geneva Conference, will retire to-morrow, on account of reaching the age limit of sixty-four, after forty-seven years' service. Whaler Sails for Boss Sea. Hobart, Novembor 14. —The whaler N. T. Neilsen Alonso, with five chasers, has sailed for the Ross Sea, where it hopes to obtain between 40,000 and 50,000 barrels of oil. The vessel will return to Hobart at the end of March. Ex-Kaiser's Winter Residence. London, November 13.—The "Daily Expresses" Geneva correspondent states that the ex-Kaiser's agent bought for him two small islands iu Lake Maggiore, facing Locarno, at a cost of £14,000. One will be renamed "Island of World's Peace," where a villa will be the winter residence of the ex-Kaiser. Art Treasures Stolon. London, November 13—A cat burglar stole art treasures valued at several thousands of pounds from the residence of Mr Percy Tudor Hart, artist, Kensington. The burglar, who was apparently a connoisseur, selected a Baldovinetti Fifteenth Century panel worth £3OOO, also rare Chinese ivories. Picture Slashed. Paris, November 14. —A sensation was caused in the Louvre when Latreille, a butcher, slashed with a razor. Le Nain 's famous picture, "Family Reunion," which is valued at £BSOO. He said that he had nothing to eat for two days, and wanted to be arrested and fed. The picture was slashed in many places, but the cuts were clean, and will probably be fairly easily repaired.
