MEETING OF BOARD. The Christehurch Tramway Board met yesterday afternoon. Thoso present were 1 Messrs A. S. Taylor (chairman), Hon Mr Barr, M.L.0., Messrs D. Sykes, H. Pearce E W. White, W, J. The application of the Hcathcote County Council for permission to erect a sub-station ° n 4 pP ot the Board's buildings at the Dyer s Pass and Hackthorne roads intersection referred to the Works and Traffic Committee. The South Brighton Progress League wrote copveying appreciation of the consideration given to residents by the granting of concessions. It was realised, the letter stated, that the bus was a burden on the finances of the Board, but it was hoped that the time was not far distant when the route would be a paying proposition. The Town Clerk wrote advising that the City Council could not see its way to grant pr-mission for bus observation trips until satisfactory arrangements were made with th City Engineer regarding the streets to bo traversed, as a number of these had re- ' cently heen reformed, and the Engineer did not wish them to be used until they were tar-sealed. Mr Thompson said Mr A. R. Galbraith (City Engineer) had told him that he had not known that only one trip a day would bo made over the 'streets by the bus. In view of this his objection would be withdrawn. The letter was received. Accounts amounting to £9533 were passed for payment.
