FIRES.
RESIDENCE DESTROYED. (FBESS ASSOCIATIOX MUGBIIt.) KAIKOURA, November 14. About three o'clock this morning f* five-roomed house owned and occupied by' Mr Erio McKenzie was totally destroyed together with its contents. Only a little bedding and night apparel were saved, and Mr and Mrs McKenzie are heavy losers. The house was situated in Margate street, off the Esplanade, and was a new structure. The building was insured in the Phoenix Office, but details are not available. PICTURE PLANT LOST. (PBISS ASSOCUTIOM TIMOBJUf.) HOKITIKA, November 14. An engine shed detached from the Kokatahi Public Hall and containing an engine, dynamo, and plant for the running of pictures was destroyed by fire early on Sunday "morning. The plant was owned by Thomas Moore, Hokitika, and was insured in the South British Company for £250. The loss will be considerably more.
