DEATH FROM BURNS.
INQUEST ADJOURNED. Mr E. D. Mosley, Coroner, opened an inquest on Saturday evening into the death of Mary Anne Murphy, aged 72 years, who died in the Hospital about midnight on Friday, five days after her admission, suffering from severe burns about the face and hands, the result of a fire at her residence, 12 William street, Christchurch. The husband of deceased, Patrick Murphy, and their son, Leo Murphy, also suffered burns which necessitated their admission to the Hospital. Evidence of identification only was heard by Mr Mosley, and the inquest was adjourned sine die, for the production of further evidence.
Bichard John King, warehouseman, of 535 Manchester street, St. Albans, and son-in-law of deceased, who identified the'body, said that Mrs Murphy suffered from ill-health, and often complained about her heart.
Sergeant M. Hodgins said nobody seemed to know how the fire started, but it had originated in a room where Mrs Murphy and the others were sitting. There was no fire in the grate.
