(«tol£ ODB OVHf eOSEKSPOSTDEST;.) LONDON, October 8. Mrs' T. Cowlishaw (Christchurch) is, in hospital in London. Some months ago she fell in Regent street and broke her arm near the elbow. After it had parti}' recovered, she had the misfortune to break it again, and it has been necessary for her to return to hospital. Miss Lee, a relative, is helping to look after her. Mrs John Greig (Longbeach) and Mrs John Barker (Woodbury, South Canterbury) left Loudon to catch the Niagara at Vancouver on October 19th. Mr and Mrs F. Smithson (late of Tiniaru) have rjicently had shooting in Scotland. They have now gone to Kenya to visit their daughter. Miss E. H. Tripp (Orari Gorge) and her two nieces, the Misses M. and E. Pinkney, have returned from Scotland, and are shortly leaving for France and Belgium. They return to New Zealand early in January. Miss Linda Mason (Christchurch) has
been visiting friends in Scotland. After a tour through England she will travel , on the Continent for about two months. Miss E. J. Cossar-Miller and Miss F. Collinson (Christchurch) have returned to London after an interesting tour through France, Switzerland, and Italy. ' They went from London to Paris by air and enjoyed the journey. They will be returning to New Zealand at the end of the year. Miss Winsome Young (Christchurch) has spent the summer motoring in the Highlands and visiting relatives in the Lowlands and the Border country. She is now beginning her second year as the New Zealand Royal Hollo-way Scholar, and carrying on chemistry re£G£trcli Mr and Mrs J. S. Chitenden (Christchurch), after four months in England, left by the Remuera. Mrs J. C. Westall (Christchurch) is spending some time in Belgium, and then goes on to Sweden, returning to England before Christmas. She hopes to spend a part of the holiday season with her son, Mr J. C. Westall, of the Royal Marines. Mr and Mrs R. W*. Morrow (Christchurch) have just returned from a tour of the Continent and leajv© for New Zealand on October 29th by the OsterKy. Miss Sheelagh Sadlier (Nelson) is taking a two years' course in English at Newnham College, Cambridge. Before settling down to work she visited Paris and the Riviera, in company with her two brothers. * Mr and Mrs George G. Ferguson (Christchurch) and their daughter have made a very extensive tour of Scotland and Ireland. They spent some time in Mr Ferguson's native village, Neilston, near Glasgow, where he had the privilege of preaching at the church he attended in his youth. Mr Ferguson has been paying a number of visits to the principal printing works in this country. They leave for home by the Oronsay on October 15th. Miss Rosemary Rees has completed the first of the three novels on which she has been engaged. The title is "Wild, Wild Heart," and it will bo, published by Messrs Chapman and Hall early next year, after first appearing in serial form. Miss Rees at present has an engagement at the Lyric Theatre in "The Garden of Eden."
