AT THE TROTS.

Thousands attended the Trotting Meeting at Addington yesterday. The stands, and lawns, and the open space round the totalisator were thronged, and the outside enclosure looked like a solid mass of humanity. Many came from the Royal Show, a number carrying gay little doll walking sticks, which must have been sold in hundreds at the Show, and which added a jaunty note of colour to the rather sombrely clad crowd. As the wind was cold, warm coats were worn by both men and women. CANTERBURY WOMEN ! TEACHERS* ASSOCIATION. ' i A meeting of the Canterbury Branch of the Women Teachers' Association was held recently in the Y.W.C.A. Cafeteria, Miss Finlayson presiding over a very good attendance of members. An interesting evening was spent in listening to a gramophone recital given by Mr T. W. ltowe, M.A. The lecturer said that in making his selection of records he had aimed principally at varying; the programme so that his listeners might realise the different forms of music which car. be recorded for the gramophone. This knowledge is very helpful when choosing records for use in schools. Mr Rowe delighted his audience with small anecdotes concerning different records. 4.t the conclusion of the recital a very hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Rowe for his instructive lecture and excellent selection of records.
