♦ NATIONALIST OFFENSIVE. PIRATES' HUMAN AUCTION MART. (BT CABLZ—PBBS3 ASSOCIATION— COFYBIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN ASD S.Z. AND SUM CABLE.) (Received November 11th, 7.40 p.m.) SHANGHAI, November 11. The Nationalist forces, controlled by the Nanking Government, have commenced a general offensive northwards and westwards of Tientsin, tho Pukow Railway, and the Yangtee River respectively. They are undertaking the operations on a large scale. Pirates operating in the Tangtso gorges have introduced a novelty in their business, according to reports from travellers arriving in Shanghai, including passengers released by the pirates owing to their poverty. These describe a human auction mart where the victims carried off from the pirated vessels are divided into three classes, according to wealth, and auctioned to tho highest bidder, who takes the risk as to the amount of ransome he may obtain for the victim purchased.
