OBITUARY.
MR HENRY M. MATSON.
Very : many wijl learn with regret of the death.of Mr Henry M. Matson, which occurred yesterday, in his 89th year. He was born in Tasmania aim passed the earlier part of his life iu the service of his uncles, the Manifold Bros, of Purrumbete, Western Victoria, and subsequently at "Airly," Oippsland. He came over to Christchurch in 1916 and identified himself with Church matters at Papanui. He was indefatigable in his efforts in support of the Church there, and recently strengthened the tower in. order that the bells -could be rung with safety; He was of a most geher-. ous disposition, and,few calls upon him were made in vain'. The Church at Stratford, Victoria, has equal cause to remember him with gratitude. The late Mr Matson was the eldest son of the founder of H. Matson and Co.'s business in • Christchurch. The funeral will take place at 2.30 p.m. to-morrow at the Papanui churchyard.
