BAND OF HOPE COMPETITIONS.
The Band of Hope competitions were continued in the Choral Hall last evening bofore an enthusiastio audience. The' judge* for the evening were: Physical drill, Mr Graham; pianoforte, Mr Billington; elocution, Mr J. R. Lester. » Tho results were:—
Club Solo, Section I.—Florrie Carson (New Brighton United), 93 per cent., 1; Betty Smith (Edgewarej, also competed. Wand Drill, boys—Knox Presbyterian, 78 per cent., 1. Pianoforte Solo, Class C—Ethel Foster (Hope of Op&wa, 1.0. R.), 87 per cent., 1; Alistair Thomson (Knox), 84 per cent., 2; Louise Kiddell (St Paul's), 76 per cent., 3; Dulcie Howlett (Spreydon Baptist), 71 per cent., 4.
Freda, Judkina (Philipson 1.0. E.), Murial Davidson (Knox), Leslie Walsh (Philipson 1.0. R.), M. Lawrence (Philipson 1.0. R.), and Lilly Kinsella, (Linwood Methodist) also competed. Dumbbells Competition, Section I. (girls) —Knox Presbyterian, 84 per cent., 1. Recitation, Class B (boys)—Clive McNeil (Durham street South), 79 per cent., 1 ; Dcnald H. McLean (Berwick street), 77 per cent., 2; Noel Masson (Durham street South), 76 per cent., 8. George Davidson (Knox), Roel Schenkel (Philipson 1.0. R.), Vernon Hill (Edgoware), Ewart Douglas (St. Paul's), and Cyril Armour (Knox), also competed. Pianoforto Duct, Class D—Misses Gwen Davies and Rita Gibbs (Rugby street), 86 per cent., 1. Misses Edith Musgrove and Betty Gresham (Knox) also competed. Dumbbells Competition, Section . ill. Presbyterian, $6 per cent. LThe first demonstration concert will' bo held in tho Choral Hall this evening.
