Launches leave Lyttelton at 0 a.m. for Charteris Bay, and 10 a.m. for Church Bav. The Lyttelton United Friendly,. Societies will hold a church parade to-morrow mornin" at the Lyttelton Methodist Church. New Trawler. A new motor trawler for the Lvttoiton nulling fleet was launched at Port Chalmers on Tuesday. She wag christened Gannet. and was built to the order of Mr W. Coffey Her dimensions are: Length 46ft, beam 12ft draught 7ft, and moulded depth sft 9in. An English crude oil engine, weighing four tons and developing 30 horse-power, will provide a speed of, eight knots, the comparative heavy weight of the machinery being intended.to promote efficiency in-actual trawling. Her modern equipment includes a oneman control of the machinery and steering from the wheel-house. Concert. There was a largo and appreciative audience at the Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday night, when the girls of St. John's Social Club gave their second concert of the season. J.no first part opened with a prettv garden scene—a grandmother talking to "her two granddaughters of the songs of long ago. bne falls asleep and dreams she hears the songs, which were given as follows:—"Lack n f y ,, { ?l rs - Bar "tt), "In a Little Old Garden" (Social Club), "Be Kind to Old Grannie (Mrs Weatherhead), "The Gipsv's Warning" (Miss Jean Miller), "Maeush'l'a" (Mr Couch), "Tapping at the Garden Gate" (Aliss Jean Aystvam), violin solo, old airs (Miss Molly McDonald). "Old Rustic Bridge (Mrs Lahoar), "Sweet Dreamland laces (Social Club). A gavotte was danced by four girls., _ In the second part of the programme items were given as follows:—lnstrumental trios, Misses V. Livingston and M. McDonald and Mr I<\ Page; songs, Miss E. Muxiowrecitations, Mrs Radovinich; Quaker songs by Social Club, "I Like Your Apron," solo by Miss Nystram and Mr Couch; "The Quaker Girl," solo by Miss Barrett: and military choruses, by the club, "Colonel Bogey," "Tramping Along." The latter two, by the club, caused much merriment, and called for repeated encores. The frocking and decorations throughout the whole were particularly pleasing. Personal. I Mr Henry Field, Port Levy, left last evening on a holiday visit to Wellington.
