HEATHCOTE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting o: the Heathcote County Council was held last night. Present: Crs. C. Flavell (chairman), W. \\'. Eearff. J. L. Danks, \V. Kerr, J. H. Moore, and 'B. Biiey. A letter from his Majesty's TrarJe Commissioner asking to be supplied with copies or all specifications, etc., when tenders wore called for machinery wa? received, but the opinion was expressed that British work should have the preference. Arising out of a letter from the Prime Minister, it was decided that the usual procedure for the observance of Armistice Day be adopted. The Main Highways Board forwarded a copy of maintenance estimjte3 for main highways—Maffay's corner-Heathcoto bridge, £250; Dyer's Pass road, .£l5O. Mr L. Columbus, Angus street, wrote agreeing to clean the Heathcote river bank of willow trees as ariangsd witii Cr. Scarfl. The Mi Pleasant Burgesses' Association wiote suggesting the name of Tama Terrace for the right-of-way at the rear of Mrs Townsenus pioperty. and that Edenhill road be extended from Mr Musgra-ve's property to Mt. Pleasant road, also requesting the Council not to permit anv further encroachments on the roadways of the riding by the erection of steps or sheds thereon, it being felt that unless such encroachment* were forbidden the difficulties in making roadicg improvements would be aggravated unnecessarily. The nans -rnggested was apriroved. the question of erecting motor garages to be "decided on th» merits of each application.
