SUMMER TIME.
TO THTS HtUTOB OT THE TRESS. Sir,--Regarding summer time, would it be possible for you to get the Mayor as "head of the house" of Christchurch to give a ruling on this muchdiscussed subject? Rumours are being circulated that churches, schools, and picture shows are going to alter their opening time to a later one. If that is so, then "the cure will be worse than the disease.'' Altering the school lunch .hour will mean another break in a meal which, like mine, is frequently going from 12 to 2 p.m. Children are awake with the lark, and starting the sohoolday earlier will affect them less than anybody. Let everyone alter the clock and go by it, and not the sun. Then only will we reap the benefit of this saving of daylight, but if some make alterations and some do not, it will be a case of—Yours, etc., CONFUSION WORSE CONFOUNDED.
